The name is derived from Kaala Kund (Black Pond/ Lake). However it has been corrupted to Kalakand (a sweet which is more a specialty of eastern UP), but which the town has adapted as its own.

That loco is not the banker. It is the lead loco. Please see a similar picture here: http://irfca.org/gallery/Trips/mhow09/IMG_3062.jpg.html

Not even a bit of elevated platform.....difficult for old people....although the train doesnt seem to be overcrowded, people like to travel 'balcony class'....

Yea that loco has to be a lead loco , the banker should be on the other side.

If the passengers are standing on the "Platform", then that CANNNOT be the lead loco.

If the passengers are NOT standing on the "Platform", then, that will be the lead loco.
-------
When the Train stops in Kalakund, on its way to Indore, the Platform will be to our left-side.

VSP garu, this is not the platform. Platform is on the other side of the train, and hence this is the lead loco. The board indicating the SR of 20 kph in the ghats too is visible in the pic!
