The reason will be out in few days. About "bahukhandit", I think it should mean uncoupled in many parts as "bahu" means many and "khandit" means in parts.

This board was installed at this location when a lot of 'train parting' incidences (CBC coupled rakes) were attributed to sudden jerks imparted by quick notching up while starting a goods rake which was not properly 'bunched up' in stationary position.

Thanks a lot Rajeev but what may be the real reason? As you may be well aware this is a bidirectional twin line. There are signals placed at short distances also. The run on this section is often marred by mixture of red and yellow signals and 1 or 2 incidences of chainpullings also.

Frequent stoppages occur in the approach of LKO station. As these lines are busy, goods trains have to restart often on very short notice after stopping. This results in partial release of brakes and hence more resistance to forward movement. The resulting 'jerk' does occasionally cause train parting, which was more frequent here and the Bosses decided to warn the drivers about it.

An official from LKO DRM office has given the same reason has Rajeev has mentioned. However, as per him some more research is going on this to know the clear-cut or exact reason. For the time being the bosses have put this board as a precautionary measure.

Samar, that board has been standing there, as far as I can remember, since 1988. Also, there is a rising gradient from Dilkusha cabin (SPL 213) towards the overhead bridge near Gulistan Colony. I have seen more than a few times, freight trains stalling on this section due to locomotive being unable to pull the rake over the gradient.

There is some blurring of the board due to low resolution picture. Here it is what it reads "Engine chalak" next line in red "chalte samay savdhan rahiye" and the last three lines in black font "Is isthan aur Lucknow yard ke beech zhatke ke saath chalne ke kaaran anek baar gadiya bahukhandit ho gayi hai."
