I dont think the trailing loco is 22256. Because none of the 222xx loco have yellow panto's and all half of the 222xx loco have 11 mirror sequence over the blowers but this one has the 6 mirror sequence over the blowers.
Question : Was the traling loco alive??

what is the 'rare' thing in this shot.

I think 2 WAP 4's coupled together with a rake is a rare thing only if both are alive!!

The photo is rare is two things.(1)Usually outgoing trains from MS don't have a second dead loco(2)The usual combo seen is WAP4+WAM4/Diesel WDMx/Diesel WDP3A

I agree with Sid that the trailing loco is not 22256. Not only does 22256 not have a yellow pantograph, but it also has a glass window above every ventillation panel (11 of them) rather than above alternate panels as in later versions of WAP4s. This loco looks like 225xx.

The trailing loco is not 22256 but 22556. (22556 has 6 mirror sequence above the blowers and has yellow pantographs). -- Rakesh Joshi
