The Perumon Bridge, witness to one of the worst accidents on IR. Trivandrum bound Island Express slipped and fell into the waters below on 7 July 1987, a similar rain soaked day, killing 127 persons. The real cause of the accident remains a mystery till date, why the strong bridge suddenly gave up. Reasons as weird as a tornado has been suggested, but not proved. Perumon Bridge, 2004-10-03.
