These look new to me. Indiapost has been known to transport their letter boxes in RMS coaches, for distribution enroute. Or maybe IR got lucky this time in getting some parcel traffic from Indiapost ;-)

Indian post is replacing old cylindrical post boxes with newer sleek fibre glass ones. These must be scrapped boxes

The 'corbelled' projections at top of piers help in reducing the span for stone slabs. Typically stone slabs were used over 30-60 cm clear openings at top, between the projected stones. The span at bed level, where the water flows can be 1 m or higher, due to this corbelling.
