All the new p4's now r coming with the wap5/7 type side windows as even i saw 22689 at Itarsi with the same. Everything agreed, strips or stripless, new quality paint, new side windows, etc but the look the mid-mounted headlamps provide on the wap4 is just unexpressible. Nothing even close to match those looks.....

Well no matter what is said, the newer Wappies look awesome and yeah AJJ's trademark is their lightning stripes without which they look incomplete.

Credits to Ramesh who spotted the loco well in time and we were able to click this.I feel the bodywork is certainly a mark higher than before.

I agree with Sriram. Without the strikes, it looks like any ordinary WAP4.

The P4 looks drab without the lightning stripes... The AJJ trademark looked so good

Airavat is generic name for all KSTRC Volvos (not only for Mysore - Bangalore ones). IMHO, Airavat must be a Sanskrit word. About naming this particular loco, may be because of the colour, the elephant was white (unique, normally elephants are black), this WAP4E is LHB liveried (unique??, normally WAP4s are red) - Amruta Bhate.
