BZA refers to the home shed of this loco - Vijayawada and SCR refers to the owning railway - South Central Rly. The 4p/6p refers to special gearing ratios on the loco.

The locos back each wagon into the tippler, one at a time. When the last wagon is to be backed into the tippler, the flat wagons (dummies) are used as a safety measure to prevent the loco from being pulled into the tippler!

The sleeper effect is due to the zoom used on the camera. Both lines you see here are single line working. ie on both lines trains can operate in both directions with block working. The line on the right (with caboose visible) us used by KK line bound iron ore trains only while the line on the left is used for trains despatched from the exchange sidings (with Vizag Port Trust) and bond for destinations other than the KK line.

The usual composition of trains is 3 locos (or 2 in the case of WAG6's) + 56 BOXN wagons + guard van. You will be suprised to know that there is a shortage of walkie talkie sets on the KK line and our train for instance didnt have one! Its all down to the good old days of whistle and flag communication!

None of the VSKP WAG5's had buffers on them! Only the WAG6's as Vikas pointed out. There are no WAM4's to be found on this line.

Neil - as I've explained in my reply to an earlier query, the KK line refers to the 445 km long Kottavalsa-Kirandul iron ore carrying BG electrified single line running through the states or Andhra Pradesh & Orissa.
Sandeep - the standard length of trains on this line is 3 locos + 56 BOXN wagons + guard van. The length of the train is close to 900 mtrs.
