Thanks a lot. The port fell out of favor mainly because of three reasons: Development of nearby Cochin as a major port, development of communism amongst the workers led to increase of strikes and finally sea itself became a villian when a sand bar started forming 5 km into the sea preventing movement of big ships. This is not my camera but my cousins.

Dear Harsh, Thanks a ton for sharing this million dollar picture. This is the best image from earliest pictures of this wonderful loco with ratchet type master controller.

I have seen BOBY wagons being 'shunted' by the rubber tyred mechanical loaders used for loading the ballast into these wagons, at the ballast depot at Vyasnagar. Illegal but very effective!
