I wonder if the loco is actually 766 as it appears in later photos? I could not find a MSMR 4-6-0 numbered 667 in Hughes part 1..

The second image may be shot near the Salt Coutours area - the sheds in the background may exist today - See this pic of the area today.
What is the origin of the name "Elephant gate" - was this an extra wide level crossing to lead pachyderms to the Buckingham canal (that had pristine waters then?)

Note Diksal, SE of Dhond (Daund) - it is now inundated in the shallow but humongous backwaters of Ujni dam along with Pomalwadi station.
