These machines are Diesel Hydrostatic BG Engines manufactured by Ovis Equipments Pvt. Ltd (OEPL) at Cherlapally , Hyderabad. I had the privilege of visiting their Plant. The official I met told me that these were custom fitted with Hydraulic cranes to avoid lorry movement and to save manpower. Innovative isn't it ? Dilip Setlur

Ash, this is a MEMU. Normally they have only 3 power cars wheras EMU's have 4 power cars.

3 power cars for a 12 coacher .. is this underpowered ?? We have 12 coach EMUs with 4 powercars down south.May be something to do with the load they carry.

Only 2 DMU's of Jalandhar Shed has got these Jan Shatabdi style windows...and rest all are with standard windows.

Hmmm .... Jan Shat-style windows on a DMU. First time for me. Were they always there or retro-fitted?
