Karan, even before Railfans could trek this route, it was a hugely popular trekking route with other "Trekkers" . It was when the MG stopped and no trains ran for a decade.
In a way they had a "green route" through the dense western ghats thanks to IR's P-Way.

Trekking the Shiradi Ghats.

Stupendous work done by Ramdev, Pawan and company. I too would have like to trek the route , probably with the missed out guys.

One nitpick this ghat is called the Bisale ghat , the route taken by the road is called the Shiradi Ghat.

This is probably one ghat section with the Thickest forest cover simply because of the 55km of length of the ghat section.
