Thanks Rahul for sharing. Yes, a full view would be much appreciated and of course other details like location, etc. The restoration does, indeed, look very promising!

Amazing restoration work from what was seen remaining of this locomotive in 1999. Congratulations to all involved with this Herculean project.

Thanks Harsh, this is indeed a 4-8-2+2-8-4 Garratt! You will also be glad to know that I had the opportunity to meet the authorities there, who are very keen in restoring this loco to it's former shape and glory. Within a day or two I shall send them a picture of a similar war department Garratt loco from Burma, showing them the original fittings.

This is Bengal Assam Railway's metre gauge Bayer Garratt locomotive GX 32086 (BP 7144). For years (decades) it has been spotted rusting away at Guwahati and it has been recently moved to Tinsukia for preservation. It is the only known metre gauge Garratt locomotve in existence. Great work Rahul! Perhaps you can ask the powers to be to scrape, clean and paint the works plate in a different colour. Also, they should research and paint the locomotive in its original colour which this one seems unlikely to be.

It certainly looks like a Beyer Garrett but it looks as if it is standing on narrow gauge tracks so my guess is one of the two Nepal Government Railway locomotives 'Mahabir' or 'Sitaram' on the Jaynagar line.
