Oh I've always loved this photo! Its been with me for a long time. I see you've colour corrected it. I have the one with all that authentic looking yellow tint ;-). Great pic. Reminds me of the Hindi Movie Lagaan too! Thanks, Stewart.

This very loco was subsequently transferred to Mhow shed and I have had the good fortune of riding on it in Jan'96 hauling a republic day special between Mhow and Ratlam! It was condemmed a few months later..

Yes: this was the link between the North and South MG systems: the line between Khandwa and Hingoli was opened in 1960.

yep mate, the meter gauge electrification comment is absolutely right!!!coz electrification on metetr gauge is only left in tamilnadu now.....i think.

Fantastic series of SR MG steam. I remember the Sengottai passenger from '87 was steam driven - it took the "main line". (These pics are definitely SR - look at the catenary)
