No, Bizzy: the train is southbound. I just walked down the track south from Bhubaneswar Station. I think the ROB may be south of the station. I'm afraid I don't know the area well at all, so I can't really comment on the location: I just stayed in BBS for 2 days in 1984; and overnight in 2000. I was looking for a lake marked on my map: obviously, that was only full in monsoon time, but I had not realised that.

Great John!! You've a steam pic to every location!! BTW where exactly was it taken? Looks like a bit further from VaniVihar PH towards CTC (and the National Hhighway #5 ROB in the background), right?

This most probably would be the 376 DN passenger between Delhi and Shahjehanpur. I joined as Assistant Engineer Bareilly on 21.12.1993 and this was the only train running on steam engine then. I have some very fond memories of footplating on steam engine on 376/375. Unfortunately, it got dieselised in my tenure itself, in 1994-95.

WP and WG generated wonderful rhythm when running. Ride was good (by steam standards) and certainly superior to AWD or H class locos.

Thanks a million for sharing these images.

even before looking at "1984" in the remarks, I could tell that these photos are of pre-Scindhia era!! The station has undergone sea change now.
