Apurva the driver had the access to the window in the front cab so why did he had to come to the middle door to wave the flag looks silly to me

This is WCM 1 # 20068. Note the lack of door next to the driver in the leading cab - this door was in the middle of the loco !

This is the WCM 2 # 20176. A few years after this pic, the WCM 2 never hauled the Deccan Queen, that duty was always done by the WCM 1.

This is WCM 5 # 20101 - note the reversed number of Sahyadri (311 down/312 Up), while the Mahalaxmi that ran in those times was called the 303/304.

Beautiful shot Jimmy, the lightning strikes and the logo do put a charming touch to AJJ WAP-4's, they do look better on P-4's than M-4's
