why are the signal sighting boards placed very close to the signals?-delhi fog the reason?

I had seen off Lacey sir from ERN station the previous evening. Please don't misunderstand, I don't find any beauty in this shot unlike other Lacey shots

These look new to me. Indiapost has been known to transport their letter boxes in RMS coaches, for distribution enroute. Or maybe IR got lucky this time in getting some parcel traffic from Indiapost ;-)
