Karan, the hill is just off the old Bombay - Pune highway. Not sure if the expressway uses the same alignment though. Its funny you mention 'Mile Sur' cause I was actually present for the shoot at this very spot! In fact on the same day, the crew shot Bhimsen Joshi at 2 locations in Lonavla/Khandala including the old Parsi family (Jeejeboy?) owned house that overlooks Monkey Hill. as vivek mentioned the line on the right skips ASK junction and directly connects to hassan,shaving off quite some distance and is proposed to be the new mangalore line from YPR/SBC,though some trains will run via ASK-hassan-sakleshpur-shravanbelagolla.
