Karan, the hill is just off the old Bombay - Pune highway. Not sure if the expressway uses the same alignment though. Its funny you mention 'Mile Sur' cause I was actually present for the shoot at this very spot! In fact on the same day, the crew shot Bhimsen Joshi at 2 locations in Lonavla/Khandala including the old Parsi family (Jeejeboy?) owned house that overlooks Monkey Hill.

Wow! Is the hill where you are perched easily accessible or you did a bit of mountaineering?

This is the Shimoga/Hubli ( Ex. Shimoga/Harihar) Fast Passenger. The train gets separated at Birur(RRB). The reason for this patronage is that it matches the speed of a bus journey at less than half that fare.
For some reason the locals call this train "Mahalakshmi Passenger" probably its a BG reincarnation of an MG train. Dilip Setlur

There are two passengers from SBC to UBL. The night passenger has 6 or 7 SL coaches, and runs fully packed, with no foothold for passengers in UR! Usually the day train is also jampacked, with more short distance passengers.

as vivek mentioned the line on the right skips ASK junction and directly connects to hassan, shaving off quite some distance and is proposed to be the new mangalore line from YPR/SBC,though some trains will run via ASK-hassan-sakleshpur-shravanbelagolla.
