Wildflower Alley

While traveling to Mumbai during the previous week, I noticed a large number of wildflowers between the Begdewadi – Ghorawadi- Talegaon stations of the Pune – Lonavala section.
Ashish and I decided to go for a closer look and were overwhelmed by what we found.
The wildflowers are of the Yellow Cosmos (Cosmos Sulphureus) genus. Why these are found here and in such dense numbers, is not clear to us. However our ignorance of the nature’s wisdom did not come in the way of enjoying the impact of the bounty, especially when it is found alongside our favourite ribbons of steel !

On my personal scale of preference, an EMU is the least exciting of the various track bound vehicles, still, this L5 down looks stunning in the locale. Between Begdewadi and Ghorawadi, 2006-09-30

Blame it on the wind. This one took us totally by surprise - despite the howling WCG 2 at the head, we did not notice the Mumbai bound 1024 Up Sahyadri Express arrive at this spot till the very last moment. As can be seen here, the up and down tracks ahea

A pair of ancient gate posts and a meaningless level crossing exist in the section. The level crossing leads to the down track (lower level) without an equivalent crossing on the up track. This may suggest that the Mumbai – Pune line was initially a si
