WCAM-3 #21933 had hauled the Gitanjali Express from Mumbai CST to Igatpuri. The loco will now give way to a SRC WAP-4 for its journey to Howrah. Roof-mounted DBR units have now become a standard feature on almost all WCAM-3 locomotives. Igatpuri, 2005-05.

Thumbs_Up_rock_MMR.jpg

The famous 'Thumbs Up' rock just outside Manmad Junction. This area is pretty scenic as well as interesting. Three lines converge at Manmad and all of these can be seen from top of this hill. Near Manmad, 2005-05. Vivek Manvi.

Daund_line_MMR.jpg

The Daund-Manmad line joins the CR mainline from Mumbai here. The Daund-Manmad line is a single and unelectrified line. The 'Thumbs Up' rock can be seen in the background. Manmad Jn, 2005-05. Vivek Manvi.

BSL_WAM4_21331.jpg

The famous Bhusawal WAM-4 #21331 in its neat white-blue livery parked in a siding. This loco previously had huge windscreens, which have been removed. Note the bulge on the front of the loco, which gives it a 'pregnant' look. Manmad Jn, 2005-05. Vivek Man

Goa_Expresses_MMR.jpg

Action at Manmad: The Nizamuddin and Vasco bound Goa Expresses meet each other at Manmad Junction. The Vasco bound train is being hauled by a Pune WDM-3A #18757R. Manmad Jn, 2005-05. Vivek Manvi.

SRC_WAP4_22317_Gitanjali_MMR_001.jpg

Santragachi WAP-4 #22317 was doing a brilliant job of hauling the Gitanjali at its MPS of 110kmph. Here the beast takes a breather at Manmad. Manmad Jn, 2005-05. Vivek Manvi.

BSL_WAM4_20658_Mahanagri.jpg

The fast and the furious: The late running Mahanagri Express hauled by a BSL WAM-46P #20658 blasts past the Gitanjali Express. Both trains were doing well over 100kmph. NK-MMR section, 2005-05. Vivek Manvi.

Twin_ET_WAG5_BCNA.jpg

A BCNA rake headed by twin MU'd Itarsi WAG-5 locos waits in the siding to be overtaken by us. The rear loco was shut down as the rake was empty. Naydongri (MMR-BSL), 2005-05. Vivek Manvi.

Gitanjali_curve_upgradient.jpg

The WAP-4 rounds a curve and negotiates an upgradient at top speed in the Manmad-Bhusawal section. This section is heavily graded and its quite common to see freights headed by twin locos. MMR-BSL, 2005-05. Vivek Manvi.

WAP1_22031_Goa_Express_MMR.jpg

The NZM bound Goa Express gets ready to depart behind a GZB WAP-1 #22031. Note the red danger sign signifying that coupling work between the loco and the first coach is in progress. This practice is unique to CR. Bhusaval Jn, 2005-05. Vivek Manvi.

Twin_ET_Diesels_Karnataka_Exp_BSL.jpg

Make way for the twins: The Karnataka Express hauled by MU'd WDM-3A #18825R and WDM-2 #18357 from Itarsi arrives at Bhusaval Jn. Bhusaval Jn, 2005-05. Vivek Manvi.
