Xmas day at Uruli
A perfect picture for the new year greeting would be a train on the Shindawane viaducts on the Miraj line – as seen from the distant Daund line, please.
Accordingly, the grizzly, yet incorrigible bits of the Pune gang trekked from Uruli (URI) station on the Pune – Daund line to a convenient hill a few kms down the road for that perfect view.
The fog, mist, smog and the sunlight from the wrong directions did not grant us that special image. Still, we got some pictures….
Ashish and Apurva arrived first on the site. Swaran did not wake up in time for the 0715 hrs departure and followed an hour later by another passenger train to meet us on top of that hill.
Our ride from Pune – the 1551 down hauled out of URI by the Pune WDM 3A # 18651R.
Emerging from the morning mist, the Pune WDM 2 # 18702R pulls the 1548A Daund – Pune passenger into URI.
A combination of exhaust smoke and the mist cloaks the Pune WDM 2 # 18679 with the short rake of the 2730 Up Nanded – Pune express.
Whipping past the weaver bird nests is Kazipet’s WDM 2 # 16716 with the 7032 Up Hyderabad – Mumbai express.
Next, we climb this hill whose one narrow end gives views of the Pune – Daund line and the other broader end shows the Shindawane ghats on the mountains a few kilometers away. On the narrow end, this is Guntakal’s WDM 3A baldie 14033 with the 6012 Up
From the Pune end comes a colourful BLC container rake hauled by the WDG4 # 12074 towards Daund.
Pune’s WDM 3A # 14093 with the 2158 Up Solapur – Pune Hutatma express crosses with the BLC rake at this spot.
1549 down Pune – Solapur passenger with the Pune WDM 2 # 17919 moving from Uruli for Yewat. Swaran has arrived at URI with this train and would reach this spot after walking for about 45 minutes.
We were hoping for much better views than this. Two of the seven viaducts of the Shindawane ghat are barely visible in this much tweaked photograph. This is just to give an idea of the scale of the viaducts – we would be back on a clearer day, in the mi
Back on the ground level, the WDM 2 # 18702R seen the second photograph returns towards Daund with the 1625 down Pune – Baramati passenger.
A Pune bound BCN rake rolls down gradient with Pune WDG 3A # 14813. The gradient is a result of our hill that can be seen in the background.
This is the viaduct on the miraj line as seen from d daund line side which apurva is talking abt. slightly visible.
