Here is the signalman in action again Can someone explain to me why the flags are necessary as the station appears to be fully signalled?

It's customary to exchange flag between station/signal cabin crew and driver / guard. It means I am watching your train and everything seems to be okay. In case something is wrong, I'll raise red flag and alert guard.
