As the road travel is faster, direct and more regular, most people do not take the day trains to Miraj / Kolhapur, though the night trains are popular. Thus most of travelers are not aware of the scenic route that the train takes.

The history of the MG line would recorded in Chennai or Secunderabad, as the MG line was run by the MSMR and later by the SCR. That is one more reason as to why the MG line has been forgotten, despite of being so near Pune.
