It's all about increasing the speed towards Mumbai-end to achieve satisfactory min speed imperative to be in Shatabdi class. After all IR must showcase Shatabdi (wherever possible) to tourists.

Lovely image. It seems due to vacation time it has been increased to 12 coaches. I would still say Jan Shatabdi should be made a 15 coacher throughout the year as it runs full almost on all days and also lots of foreign tourists travel a lot in this train.
