Vishwamitri and Pratapnagar Narrow Gauge trip
By Jimmy Jose
Relics from the past - the switches. The cylindrical structure in the foreground is actually a well and has a motor immersed in it. Look at the rudimentry tap on top
The platform no. 1 at the station. This station is mainly used by the Railway Employees at the DRM's office situated here
TOOOOOT and we are off. Look at the position of the switches of the horn. The circular handle is the notch
An old BG vehicle at the BG side of the station. Anybody know what is it? I know that it is lying unused for decades
Is this a tender of a steam loco? This is on the back side of the strange vehicle. I just can't make out what it is
Enterance to the NG disel shed. I asked the friendsly RPF man here permission and he ENCOURAGED me to take photos. He was saying that no terrorists will ever travel on this line! Only tourists
The complete view of the NG diesel shed. The shed houses 18 ZDM 5 locos, used all over Gujarat. Undoubtedly it is the cleanest shed I have ever seen. Like BG sheds, it is headed by a Sr. DME
ZDM 507 and 537 at the shed. Difference in agae brought difference in shape to the locos. 507 is built in 1990 and 537 in 1999
Pratapnagar shed also take care of some of the rakes. This side is dedicated to maintaining rakes
Some shed employees got excited and wanted me to click. Sure did I. Unlike employees of BG sheds, these guys were really nice and took so much time to explain things to me.
Can you believe this? Diesel if filled into the zDM 5 through a "Petrol Bunk" type dispenser. Max capacity of the loco is 500 lts
Inside the hood of the ZDM 5. The loco is not turbo charged. The inetriors are so clean compared to a WDM 2
It seems lot of students from Engineering collages come to the shed for educational tours. This is an engine of a condemned loco that is used to educate the students. the hindi board translates to "All that you do should be for the benefit of the n
Surprise!! It seems there are a lot of peacocks inside the shed premises. Employees say they control the numerous snakes in the vicinity from getting into the shed. It was a colourfull experience to see these birds inside railway territory
The old steam shed still stands tall but all the locos seen by Vikas Singh have been broken up. This is the area where "snake watcher" peacocks of ths shed will be most interested in!

Many thanks, Jimmy. A super set of pictures. I particularly like all the shots of buildings and lineside details as well as locos and trains.
