We climb a small hill conveniently overlooking the DNJ loop and enjoy gusty winds with sharp sheets of cold rain. We see permanent way workers haul away worn rails from the side of the tracks to a safer location at a nearby level crossing. We spent a better part of this engineering block, riding the mist and rain on the hill slopes. During this time, the old rails were transported and sadly, no trains ran… Daundaj, 2006-08-15.
