Whistles through the rocks of Yeliyur

A trip undertaken by four Railfans from Bangalore - Shishir Jairam, Kunal S Doddanavar, Pawan Koppa and Santosh Kulkarni to unravel yet another paradise on the Bangalore-Mysore line - Yeliyur (Y). A unique location, one among the very, very few in SWR where the line passes through a deep rock cutting between Mandya and Pandavapura. The chirping of birds, occasional mooing from distant cows are the only sounds at this serene place when the mighty Alcos and EMDs don't attack it with their whistles, whines and chugs. Presenting to IRFCA - I know Y :-D

A look at both alignments - the earlier MG alignment seen on the left with the small bridge did not pass through the rocks hence was on flat land, while big brother on the right passed though huge rocks necessitating the cuttings. Yeliyur. (Pawan Koppa)
