A trip undertaken by four Railfans from Bangalore - Shishir Jairam, Kunal S Doddanavar, Pawan Koppa and Santosh Kulkarni to unravel yet another paradise on the Bangalore-Mysore line - Yeliyur (Y). A unique location, one among the very, very few in SWR where the line passes through a deep rock cutting between Mandya and Pandavapura. The chirping of birds, occasional mooing from distant cows are the only sounds at this serene place when the mighty Alcos and EMDs don't attack it with their whistles, whines and chugs. Presenting to IRFCA - I know Y :-D (Note: All photos taken with due permission from SWR officials.)
The passenger bound to Bangalore from Mysore led by KJM WDM-2 #17477 passes through serene villages between Yeliyur and Byadarahalli with its regular quota of PoHed coaches. Today's load is an AC and Sleeper coach. This passenger usually carries a colorfu
Round the track - here I come -- ED-3D takes a sharp curve with the Exp to MYS. (Kunal S Doddannavar)
The Tuticorin-Mysore Express led by its usual link, Erode's WDM-3D banks on the curve at Yeliyur's rock cuttings. (Pawan Koppa)
As the last coach of the TN-MYS Express passes through one can clearly get to know the way tracks are laid carving through the rocks. (Shishir Jairam)
a KJM DM3A leads the TPTY - CMNR passenger thru the rock cuttings. The other three railfans can be seen in action here. (Sant Kulk)

Rajya-Rani Express to MYS sprints to make the most of lost time with an UBL dippy in lead. (Kunal S Doddannavar)
Hubli's WDP-4 #20035 belts through the rock cuttings of Yeliyur with the RajyaRani Express bound to Mysore. (Pawan Koppa)
A Stone marked as "SR" shows the end of railway territory. Ironical it is, the line was transferred to SWR nearly 10 years ago, but the original markings still remain. We could find a dozen of such stones with "SR" markings. (Sant Kulk
Twin MLY locos lead an on time MYS JP exp towards SBC. (Sant Kulk)
Another color contrast. Mysore-Jaipur Express led by its regular link of Maula Ali twins, the leading one being WDM-3A #116579R wafts through the cuttings and heads towards Yeliyur. (Pawan Koppa)
UBL WDP4B 40054 picks up speed as it carves through with the MYS-SBC Tippu Express. (Shishir Jairam)
The very same UBL WDP-4B #40054 which hauled the Kaveri Express to Mysore in the morning running LHF now returns SHF with the Tippu Express bound to Bangalore. The rake and the loco made us shudder as it blasted past at MPS! (Pawan Koppa)
SBC bound Tipu express appears in the rock cuttings with a UBL WDP4b in the lead. (Sant Kulk)
Against a green background, the passenger bound to MYS comes chugging with a KJM WDM2 (Sant Kulk)
