This is the WDM 2A # 18554 from Erode seen at Guntakal Junction (GTL) during pre-dawn hours on the 9th September 2006. This loco hauled our 6339 down Mumbai – Nagarcoil express from Pune. Through the overnight journey, the loco enthralled us with the clear, sharp chuffs from the exhaust and the accompanying “ummmmm” from the turbo – which we could hear clearly in our coach which was sixth from the front. Helping the great experience was the soft, full moon nightscape outside our coach, a cool atmosphere with occasional patches of rain and company of great friends, John and Ashish. Note the special metallic paint finish of the loco – even the internal walls of the dynamic brake vent in the short hood have a rich white finish. Guntakal, 2006-09-09
