Well,as far as these Hitachi built electrics are concerned,they came to India without buffers,and for sometime on the SER's KK Line,worked that way...You would be amazed to see that some WAG 5s ran on this route without side buffers and they looked...

This is a WAG-6 with buffers - I guess another unique one on the KK line!
