ZDM3 #702 starts from Barog with the #251 Kalka Simla Mail. These locos are twin cab units made by Parel Loco Workshops. A total of 4 such locos are now doing duty on the KSR. ()

Rail Motor Car #2 exits the famous Barog Tunnel (longest on KSR). We had chartered this service to run between Barog & Simla. ()

The picturesque Kanoh station as RMC #2 stops for a crossing. ()

The crossing train is the #256 Simla Kalka Exp. led by a single cab ZDM3 #186. The train was also carrying a flat car with water tanks for en route stations. ()

Leaving Kanoh, the #256 crosses a stone arch bridge, which are typical to this line. ()

The object circled in red is a mirror. It is used to angle sunlight into the long unlit tunnels of KSR. This relieves the PW workers to some extent, otherwise it would necessitate carrying lights into the narrow tunnels. ()

Speaking of the tunnels, the KSR tunnels are oval in cross section, with very little room on the sides. However, refuges are frequent. ()

On the return journey, the RMC #2 specially halts for my camera on the spectacular multi-arch bridge near Kanoh. However it was too dark and I did not have a tripod.. hence the slightly blurred image. ()

I would like to see these semaphores lit up with red/green. But night running is out of question, I suppose!

A very cute album. Nice set of pictures. I had travelled on this route in 1996. This journey is wonderful.
