Once a private railways owned by Cotton companies to transport bales of cotton, now this section has been reduced to just onr service a day end to end between Murtazapur - Achalpur & Yavatmal. Already in a very poor shape, on this day there was some curfew in the Yavatmal section so we headed towards Achalpur.
This is probably the only place in India where 2 Narrow gauge trains depart simultaneously from the same track at the same time. This is the train to Achalpur, the one towards Yavatmal is facing the other side. (Trayambak Ojha)
This station despite of having a DLS for the NG locos does not look any better than a way side station. Seen here is the train to Yavatmal (Trayambak Ojha)
The train to Achalpur moves first as the LP & the Guard wave a green flag in unison (Trayambak Ojha)
Despite of Bus services being available, this is the cheapest form of transportation still and more comfortable for people who travel with such perishable goods or water. (Trayambak Ojha)
As the train departed our chase started for the train towards Achalpur. And at a desolate place in the horizon appeared the train (Trayambak Ojha)
Thorny shrubs grow commonly here, as the train after negotiating those gradients appeared closer (Vivek Pillay)
Vast Expanses of farming made this toy train smaller and more beautiful (Vivek Pillay)
Since the track conditions are not good the trains are not allowed to cross the limit of 30kmph. Our vehicular advantage helped us to quickly reach our next destination (Vivek Pillay)
Another view of the viaduct as the train crosses the river gingerly (Trayambak Ojha)
This location was as charming as it could be. A Viaduct with Girder over the Poorna river (Vivek Pillay)
As we quickly charged ahead we met the train at a LC, where the train halted. (Trayambak Ojha)
Since there is dearth of staff, the Khalasi from the train gets down and manually closes the gate himself. (Trayambak Ojha)
When the train passes the gate, it stops again. The Khalasi the opens the LC and then boards the train again. Quite a Challenging task I must admit. (Trayambak Ojha)
Our last destination for this route was Banosa. As the train arrives here there was quite some crowd to board here (Trayambak Ojha)
The crowd was finding tough to get in the train as there was a healthy crowd already seated inside. (Vivek Pillay)
