Roni's India Trip Pt - 9: Goa
February 17 - 20 2012: The longest stay of my trip at Betalbatim beach, with early morning at Vasco, Majorda, excursions to Dudhsagar Falls, to Sankval railway station at the beach and to the mighty Konkan Railway Zuari River bridge.
Zuari River bridge: What I was waiting for: At 7:15 a.m. Vatva WDM-3D #11131 pulled 19260 Bhavnagar - Kochuveli Express towards Madgaon across the tree crowns, 2012-02-20 (Roni Kappel)
Zuari River bridge: Bhavnagar - Kochuveli Express entering the mighty bridge, 2012-02-20 (Roni Kappel)
Zuari River bridge: Exact timing as Vatva WDM-3D #11131 with its 19260 Bhavnagar - Kochuveli Express crossed the path of the rising sun, 2012-02-20 (Roni Kappel)
Cortalim: Right away there was some chugging coming from the south, and at 7:32 a.m. I could already capture the next northbound express hauled by typically green Golden Rock WDM-2 #18878, 2012-02-20 (Roni Kappel)
Cortalim: The panorama showing morning mood at the fishing dock, to the right inside the wall you could exclusively find wrecks, partly under water up to the deck, 2012-02-20 (Roni Kappel)
Cortalim: Again came, what I was waiting for: 12742 Patna - Vasco Express, hauled by Itarsi WDM-3A #18939, 2012-02-20 (Roni Kappel)
Cortalim: Patna - Vasco Express on the Zuari River bridge, 2012-02-20 (Roni Kappel)
Cortalim: Itarsi WDM-3A #18939 pulling 12742 Patna - Vasco Express, 2012-02-20 (Roni Kappel)
Cortalim: Fishing dock panorama, anything closer to shore was a wreck, 2012-02-20 (Roni Kappel)
Cortalim: Different speeds of rail, road and ferry, 2012-02-20 (Roni Kappel)
Cortalim: An old warehouse with Portuguese writings could also be found at the harbour front, bridge in the background, 2012-02-20 (Roni Kappel)
Cortalim: The next southbound express entered the bridge. By the way, the sign claimed that this fishery complex had been opened on August 2 2000 by the honourable chief minister Francisco Sardinha (yes it's "sardine" in Portuguese), 2012-02-20
Cortalim: Kalyan WDG-3A #13618 "Shakti" pulled 12133 Mumbai CST - "Mangalore Express" across the village. That way I caught five different sheds and liveries in front of five different trains on the bridge, 2012-02-20 (Roni Kappel)
Cortalim: Kalyan WDG-3A #13618 with "Mangalore Express", notice the fitting label "ONLY DIESEL" in the lower right corner... 2012-02-20 (Roni Kappel)
Cortalim: Most local traffic was operated by ferry, under the bridge, 2012-02-20 (Roni Kappel)
Cortalim: The boat was called "Chandor" after a village further upstream where I had come by on my ride to Kulem, 2012-02-20 (Roni Kappel)
Cortalim: Not yet on completely dry foot the passengers stormed ashore, 2012-02-20 (Roni Kappel)
