The Southern Railway metre gauge branch from Tiritturaipundi Junction to Point Calimere (Kodikkarai) was the preserve of the attractive ST class 2-6-4T tank locomotives. On 1978.12.29 ST 37380, built in Czechoslovakia by Skoda in 1939, worked the 0530 HRS service to Point Calimere.
