HPS 24463 Amritsar
By 1978, virtually all the HPS class 4-6-0s in use in India were those that had been built post WW2 as a stop gap measure. Despite the design going back to the early 1920s, HPS 24463 had been built in the UK by Vulcan Foundry as late as 1950 and in fact had entered service a couple of years after the first of the WP class 4-6-2s had been delivered. On 1978.10.11 it was preparing to run back to the shed after arriving at Amritsar on a passenger service from Khem Karan.
