XA 22072 Jalandhar
XA 22072 in use on pilot duties at Jalandhar City on 12 October 1978 was the last survivor of the older IRS design 4-6-2s left in service on the Northern Railway. At the time a number were still at work on passenger duties in Pakistan, but the only other remaining in India were a couple in use as works shunters at Jhansi on the Central Railway.
A total of 113 XAs were built in the UK by Vulcan Foundry between 1928 and 1935 - 76 remaining in India and 37 going to Pakistan after Partition in 1947.
