Vadodara Station in 1861: was built by BB & CI in 9th january 1861. The first train service between Baroda-Bharuch-Bombay. Vadodara station named as "Baroda Cantonment" in 1861, and its presence station code 'BRC' based on this name. (Bhaveen Patel)

BRC had two seperate railway systems, one BG on BBCIR network and other on NG. The present NG station at Pratapnagar was the headquarters of GBSR (Gaekwad Baroda State Railway).
