WDM2 17116 at Wardha Jn.
One of the original batch of WDM2 built by the Diesel Locomotive Works at Varanasi "in collaboration with Alco Products Inc, USA", WDM2 17116 (built in 1968), raises the dust as it races through Wardha Jn. with the Delhi to Bangalore broad-gauge 'KK Express' on 1978.12.11

And the KK did have a beautiful livery back then...I remember seeing this livery as late as 1986-87. I'd been to SBC to receive my aunt, who returned from Dharamshala. It was an evening arrival. Then, the KK fell off a bridge over the 'Kabana nallah' somewhere in the Chambal ghats...after that, the livery changed to the Rajdhani-like red-cream-red one. Then, in the early 90s, the KK and many other SFEs across IR took on a cream-maroon livery. After that came the present one...

one of the best liveries i've seen: yellow and green, and the loco matched it as well. it was replicated in the inaugural Udyan Express too. the 9 coach Karnataka Exp and the Brindavan (also in dark green/yellow stripes livery) passing through Cox Town were the highlights of my childhood summers spent in Bangalore!
