The hump (the small incline near the hut in the background) was in use in the past when the rakes were marshalled at GIT. Even earlier in the past, the GIT used to serve as a place where goods could trans- ship between the MG (to Miraj) and BG (to Daund and Mumbai) lines – the MG is long gone, but the acronym remains.
