Apparently, there was some delay in obtaining parts for this one. I think that's a load of crap, given the slew of DP-4's that have come out. Shabby work on the DLW made DP-4's of late. This was doing duty in MU state for quite a while.

When asked, they told me he had some manufacturing defect and was lying around for 6-8 months with work pending.

Had seen this fella on an earlier run with the 1014 at Pune. Even then it was LHF. The paint was peeling near the headlights, but it wasn't so bad. Also at that time, there was some problem with the coupler, because when the crew changed at Pune, they were discussing it, and a keyman was even called in to check it, and during the check, the dippy was made to move to-and-fro fractionally as is normal practice during a coupling operation. Also, for quite some time, the loco was standing notched at 1 or 2, and then the Pune Div crew brought in to an idle notch.

It's very simple. Cost-cutting. With ongoing monsoon, the colour has come out very early than expected.

SHAME on you, DLW. What a pathetic paint job this is. Too bad.

Moreover, WCM-1 20068 & WDP-4 20068 sport almost the same livery. What a co-incidence...

Two same road numbers in IR for different loco classifications. One is here. Another one is resting at RRM, Chennai - WCM-1 #20068

Look at the road number- 20068! This is one of the most recent WDP4s and this condition already! Really pathetic paint job by DLW!!
