It will be easier to have another branch frombehind Patus Sleeper factory joining after the Daund U turn, and to have a smaller second station at Daund for local residents. This can be only two platforms without loops. With future doubling of DD-MMR in mind, the junction can have double line which currently merge near the Bhima Bridge.
Any way after the U turn the train passes behind Daund station and distance is not large.
If Shantanus suggested alignment is to be used construction of a second bridge on Bhima will be needed, and Kasti station will also have to be upgraded as it will have to control a junction, with all trains using one direction except Karnatak Express and one or two weeklie trains.

But I didn't understand about the old - black line & green line. Are there 2 branches from DD towards Manmad? I remember seeing only 1 branch, on the right side, wehn going towards Pune side.
