Vulcan Foundry built these somewhat smaller 2-4-0WT locomotives for Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway in 1860. These had vertical boiler, outside cylinders, 48" coupled wheels, 11 X 17" cylinders and incorporated a well tank. These were classified as A class on BBCIR. All eight locomotives of A class were withdrawn by 1870 presumably because they were underpowered for the work demanded of them. On of these went on to work on the Bombay Reclamation in 1865. Image provided by Graeme Pilkington, from the Vulcan Foundry web site.
