EM 937 was my father Louis Phillip Hughes' permanent Locomotive. He is the gent leaning on the front window sil, in the white T shirt is John Buston, first fireman and in the white hat is my eldest brother Neville who was foot plating to Lahore with my father. The picture is taken on the UP side of Saharanpur Loco yard and the train they were taking out would have been 17 UP Delhi-Lahore fast passenger leaving Saharanpur at about 14.20 Hrs. They would come back two days later with 18 DN arriving back at Saharanpur at about 18.00 Hrs. The year is 1937 see how well looked after the locomotives were in those days. EM 937 was modified in 1941 at NWR’s Mogulpura workshops near Lahore to lengthen the main frame, the bogie wheel was moved under the footplate and an ash pan was installed. (Hal Richard Hughes)
