An Litho print in 'The Illustrated London News' dated July 8, 1854. The first illustration shows View from the Sion Hills - Train crossing the marsh. The second illustration is that of the Byculla station. The third one is that of the Eastern Tunnel and the fourth one illustrates the Railway line across the flats as seen from the Sion Hill. The accompanying article describes the building of the line, the journey and other interesting facets of the line as existed in 1854.

Byculla station in the heart of Mumbai today - not an inch of open space today, and certainly no wooden platforms on stilts, gaslights or tongas.
