Look at Ernakulam Jn at night. Deep backgrounds are not a problem for shots with long exposures like these. With a shorter exposure, the shot would have looked like a plain black photo

Jimmy, if i may suggest something, try to use manual mode for night shots. keep the ISO at 50, and keep the lens at complete wide angle, which will allow you to use f 2.8 (the lowest f no. on the A95)......adjust the shutter speed as per the lighting......but for best results keep it near to 4 secs.........try it out and let us see the results!
