Heritage crucified: Tourists use the remains of railway station at Top Station (30 kms from Munnar) as a convinient spot for picnic. Sadly, we Indians do not really know the meaning of the words "History and heritage". While our Governments promote heritage tourism, there is no mention of this historic station anywhere near this point. I had to explain to these picnic goers that they are actually sitting on top of a Railway station, more than a century old, only to be laughed at by these people. Imagine the hustle and bustle here when a train left this station on a misty morning in 1904 when the Kundala Valley Railway was active!!
