YD 524 2-8-2 (Ajmer Works/1932) departing from Khat Shaheed, with the Thursday only, MG-3, the 08-00 Mirpur Khas-Jhudo-Pithoro Jc-Mirpur Khas. At 228Km this is most likely the world’s longest steam hauled passenger service. YD 524 was built by the Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway at their Ajmer Works in 1932 as their number 264 and transferred new to the Assam-Bengal Railway where it became their number 224. Subsequent history similar to number 518. Neil Edwards, 2-6-2005.
