History of the bridge: The bridge was constructed by Westwood Baillie Co. in 1880 as the plaque on the bridge suggests.

The old Attock bridge as viewed from outside Khairabad Kund village. The bridge is over Indus river and is the only railway connection between Peshawar and rest of Pakistan, thus making is strategically important.
