Dream of connecting Asia with Europe via rail link is not so new however was un-cherished on account of various political, economical, geographical and technical issues. On 14th August 2009 a first ever container train was run between the capitals of Pakistan and Turkey, Islamabad and Istanbul via Tehran, Iran crossing a distance of 6,500-kilometer in 15 days.

The return train was arranged from Istanbul to Islamabad via Tehran (in picture) . The train crossed Iran-Pakistan border on 8th August 2010 and reached Islamabad on 14th August 2010.
