Colombo Port Commissioners (a)

Known as Colombo Harbour Works until 7/1913.

A report from 8/1973 states there is "eight steam and six diesel locomotives. Two 0-4-0ST were in steam. Steam is likely to
last for sometime due to the shortage of foreign exchange to pay for spare parts for the diesel locomotives, which are mostly
AB's" v

In 197?, "Of seven steam locomotives, all except two are still in use or serviceable. 0-6-0T No 2 was in works under repair.
0-4-0ST No 5 has been scrapped. Usually two steam and two diesel locomotives are at work every weekday" vi

0-6-0T HE 1407-8 & 5 x 0-4-0ST (including 614/1894 & 1852/1937) present. vii

The loco shed is at the far end of the port from the main offices, beyond a dry dock near the dock branch's entry point from
the main line. Steam locos 2, 3, 9 in running order. HE 1408 u/r, No 7 dumped, 8 & 10 OOU. Diesels 15 & 16 derelict. At least
one of 17-19 was in use. viii
