Lohat Factory
Established 1914. First factory at Lohat, Lohat Sugar Works. Started production 1915. Rum by managing agents Octavius Steel.
Second factory set up at Sakri, opened in 1933. Lohat set up with a 400 ton per day crushing capacity. In 1962 it had a 1200
ton per day capacity. Lohat labour strength is 1512, 1151 in the factory, 244 out station staff and 51 at head office.

Motipur Sugar Factory, Motipur
From the mill, the 2'0" gauge line proceeds NW for about 2kms before swinging SW under the NER MG Muzaffarpur-Narkatiaganj
mainline. After a further 5kms, the line crosses over a canal and reaches a junction where one line proceeds to the loading
point at Jasauli and the other to Morarpur. During mid January traffic was at a low level with only the Jasuali line in use
and only one train a day departing from the mill between 1100 and 1200, arriving back at about 1600. The regular locomotive
for working to Jasauli is No 5, hauling a reserve water tank. Mill pilots were No 1 and No 4 with No 2 serviceable. v

Heavy machine plant USSR collaboration. Designed to produce 80,000 tons of heavy machines per annum. Of this, 65,000 tons
will be equipment and machines for steel plants, the rest for industries such as cement, fertilizer, mining, oil, drilling
etc. Can produce coke ovens and by-product machinery, blast furnace equipment, steel-making equipmnt, crushing and grinding
equipment, heavy mining equipment, excavators, press forging equipment and heavy oil drilling rigs.
